Weekend #1:
Memorial Day weekend we went to Dana Point to visit friends.
Saturday was a pefect day for he beach.
Sunday Morning we went for a lovely walk along the beach.
Sunday afternoon we drove up PCH 1 to Huntington Beach.
loving all the bikes... we would love to one day live by the beach and rides our beach cruisers :)
It was a super super windy day and cool... doug froze in his t-shirt and walking on the beach was painful when the sand hit you like pebbles.
but we still loved our day of walking around, looking in all the surf shops and eating mexican food.
Doug wished he was out kite surfing :)
That evening we had a picnic dinner while watching the sunset. The weather (cold & windy) was not ideal for a picnic, but we ate fast and enjoyed some delicious homemade food.
Monday we explored the pier of Dana Point... enjoying breakfast on the pier and admirig the beautiful place it is.
Weekend #2 in California:
Running the San Dieo 1/2 Marathon.
We flew to San Diego at 7am Sat morning, just in time for breakfast at a popular breakfast joint, that we just hapen to come across. Large crowds waiting usually mean something good and we were willing to wait 30 minutes to judge ourselves.
Hash House did not disappoint. They are famous for "Twisted Farm Food" and very large portions.
We shared an egg scramble with mashed potatoes (amazing) and the bananna brown sugar pancake (also amazing)... worth the wait and we didn't need to eat the rest of the day :)
While we waited for our friend to arrive, we walked around Balboa Island.
We meet up with our friends Gretchen and Breanna who were running the race with us.

Sunday morning we woke up at 4am... ready to run 13.1 miles.
It was a hard race, beautiful course, but great accomplishment when you're finally finished :)
It was our first 1/2 marathon to run together... although Doug finishes WAY before me!!
After spending the morning running... you get to spend the afternoon laying on the beach!
We went to Coronado Island and thatis the famous hotel in the background.
It's tradition to write in the sand....

We stayed at the Marina, so we had great views of the boats and Doug dreamed about having his own yacht!!
Monday we rented bikes at Mission Beach and rode all the way to La Jolla.... so fun!!

We loved our time in California. It was Doug's first time in San Diego and he loves it as much as I do!!
