This past Sunday, the Gateway crew (about 23 of us)... took a 1 1/2 hour roadtrip to Caddo Lake State Park, the only natural lake in Texas and was formed when floodwaters, blocked by log jams on the Red River, backed up into t
he Cypress Bayou watershed, forming the lake. It is full of cypress trees and aquatic plants and much of the lake is a maze of sloughs, bayous, and ponds that we canoed through for 4 hours. I have never seen anything like it before.... it was absouletely beautiful! Kelly, Haley and I shared a canoe and took turns sitting in the middle. The whole time we talked about how we felt like we were in the movie, The Notebook. The part where Noah takes Allie out on the lake after they had not seen each other for many years... it's a pretty significant scene in the movie and it was our joke throughout the day how much the lake reminded us of the movie and how we felt like we were in it too.
